Their vision was clear: a central hub where people could savour moreish meals on-site or conveniently take the same experience home. A place that would cater to those craving wholesome, homemade dishes without the hassle of cooking. Wendy and Jo envisioned a welcoming space where tourists could indulge in gourmet takeaway meals en route to their holiday abodes—delights easily stowed in the freezer or eaten immediately in the car on the way. They yearned for a place that mastered culinary classics with warmth and hospitality, using pronounceable local ingredients and serving coffee that surpassed the instant brews readily available elsewhere.

Unable to locate such an establishment along the coast, they resolved to bring their dream to life. In 2024, they opened alimento offering a much-needed culinary oasis to Tasmania's eastern shores.
